May Day is the perfect time to slow down and rediscover the charms of Warsaw. The capital in spring is delightfully green, vibrant and offers plenty of attractions. You will also find many places conducive to active leisure.
In the article, we suggest what to do on May Day in Warsaw and how to plan a weekend to take full advantage of its potential.
Is it worth staying in Warsaw for May?
The answer can only be one: definitely yes.
Warsaw on May Day can surprise even those who know it every day. During the long weekend the city clearly slows down, but it does not lose its energy – rather, the way it is experienced changes. Instead of haste, there is space for longer walks, spontaneous meetings and discovering places we usually pass without stopping. Spring greenery lends lightness to the streets, and events organized on the occasion of Labor Day and the anniversary of the May 3 Constitution create a backdrop for urban life, which becomes more accessible and less obvious on these days.
What, then, to do on a May holiday in Warsaw if you want to fully experience the capital? It’s worth planning your stay to combine walks with visits to museums, an evening out on the boulevards with a morning in the park. Praga, Powiśle, Mokotów, Downtown – each of these parts has its own character and pace.
May vacation in Warsaw? Opt for the classics
The capital offers quite a few attractions. Before exploring the less obvious places, it’s worth visiting those that have been attracting visitors for years.
On your list should be:
- The Old Town – the rebuilt Old Town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is impressive at any time of the year, but on a sunny day in May it takes on a special character. It’s worth peeking into the side streets and climbing the Barbican.
- Lazienki Krolewskie – Warsaw’s largest park with the Palace on the Island and the famous peacock walks.
- Warsaw Uprising Museum – one of the most important narrative museums in Europe, which is moving and memorable for a long time. It’s worth reserving time in advance, as queues can be quite large.
- Copernicus Science Center – the perfect place for families, full of interactive exhibits that engage all ages.

Long weekend in Warsaw 2026

This year’s show is titled “Big Hearts” and tells the story of empathy through the lens of figures known from cultural and sports history. The water screen will feature Frederic Chopin and Tamara Lempicka, among others.
At the same time (May 1), the Royal Baths Park turns into the scene of the European Picnic to mark the 22nd anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union. The best attractions in Warsaw for May Day – enjoy the city skyline
There is one point in Warsaw from which the city looks completely different than from all others. Our Highline Warsaw observation deck is located on the 53rd floor of Varso Tower, the tallest building in the European Union. From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of Warsaw from over 230 meters.
Skip the queues and get above the clouds
To get above the clouds, you don’t have to stand in line. You can buy tickets for Highline Warsaw online with the selection of a specific entry time. The reservation will take no more than a few minutes, and you will be guaranteed a seat.
If, on the other hand, May plans change, 24 hours before the tour date, you will be able to reschedule your visit.
You can find us at 69 Chmielna Street , right next to the Central Railway Station. It’s hard to find a better-connected point in all of Warsaw. If you arrive by car, there is an underground Varso Tower parking lot with an entrance from Chmielna Street. The terrace is fully accessible for strollers, so families with the youngest children are equally welcome with us.
After admiring the skyline, stay longer and check out the HighGarden Rooftop Lounge – our spot for a cocktail overlooking the Warsaw skyline that will be memorable for a long time. Entry to HighGarden requires a ticket to the terrace. However, you have to admit that the experience is worth the purchase.
Book your May Day tickets in advance to avoid queues.
How many days are enough for Warsaw in May?
Two days is the bare minimum to get a feel for the city, not just tick off the highlights. Three or four days allow you to explore Warsaw unhurriedly and discover places that one-day visitors rarely get to.
Two days are enough for the Old Town, the Royal Baths and one evening on the Vistula boulevards. This is a plan for those who want to see the most recognizable points and come back with a concrete picture of the city.
Three days open up space for the Warsaw Uprising Museum, a stroll through Praga or Powiśle districts, and a trip to the Highline Warsaw observation deck. On the third day, you can also take a leisurely look at Wilanów.
Four days is already a comfortable vacation without sacrifice. That leaves time for the Copernicus Science Center, longer breakfasts at cafes in Mokotow, an evening concert or outdoor event.
However, it is worth remembering that the long weekend in Warsaw is governed by its own laws. Some museums have altered opening hours on holidays, and the most popular attractions fill up faster than usual. So it’s better to book tickets in advance to avoid wasting time in lines.
